Public Speaking

Since 2004, Kizito Kalima, Founder and Executive Director of the Peace Center for Forgiveness and Reconciliation, has been sharing his story of overcoming adversity and ultimately forgiving those who perpetrated violence against him, his family, and his country.  Over the years, Kalima’s story has touched thousands of people and inspired them to take his message of forgiveness and reconciliation and apply it to their own lives.

Kalima has also used his story to push for social change.  He has organized and spoken at memorial services commemorating the anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda since 2005.  These memorial services have served as opportunities for Hutu and Tutsi youth to interact and discuss reconciliation for a better future.  He has also shared his story with human rights groups such as the United Nations and the Shoah Foundation.

By far the best venue to hear Kalima’s story is in the context of the Genocide Against the Tutsis in Rwanda Pop-up Museum. Usually in blocks of about three hours, Kalima gives a guided tour of the museum followed by his story and a Q&A session. For a tour preview, click here (links to Vimeo).
