More than just a kitchen

In Swahili, "Karibu" means "welcome" – a word that perfectly captures our vision for this space as both a gathering place and learning environment. At Kalima Peace Village, we're creating a professional culinary space where residents and community members can gather, learn, and grow together through the universal language of food.

Why Karibu Kitchen Matters

Ruth.jpg

Ruth Tumushabe, the heart behind Karibu Kitchen, selected this meaningful name to honor her Eastern African heritage across Bantu-speaking nations. Born in Uganda with roots spanning three countries in the region, Ruth brings authentic cultural connections to every dish. Though trained as a nurse, her true calling emerged through her passion for feeding others. Karibu Kitchen is the expression of Ruth's generous spirit and her belief that good food creates community across borders.

"I want to provide everyone the chance to experience another culture and share a great meal."

-Ruth Tumushabe.

- Installation of professional-grade ovens and cooking equipment
